Gdańsk is a city with county rights in northern Poland in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, located on the Baltic Sea at the mouth of the Motława River to the Vistula River on the Bay of Gdańsk. Miasto było też ważnym ośrodkiem kulturalnym. Gdańsk uznawany jest za symboliczne miejsce wybuchu II wojny światowej oraz początku upadku komunizmu w Europie Środkowej.
